PE 10 is our Hi-Density PUFFY foam grade. Its higher density helps the embroidery maintain a stronger raised profile, resulting in a more pronounced and durable 3D effect. This makes it the ideal choice for caps, baseball caps, and other headwear.
The foam is pre-cut specifically to fit the top panel of a cap, ensuring easy and accurate placement.
The side mounting holes further simplify the production process: simply thread an elastic band through the holes and attach it to the cap frame. This keeps the 3D foam securely in position throughout the embroidery process.

PUFFY - Embroidery Foam for Three-Dimensional Effects
- Place the PUFFY foam on the cap and securely attach it to the cap frame using the pre-cut mounting holes for quick and easy positioning. Embroider the design with a satin stitch. The needle perforates the foam during stitching, allowing excess material to be removed easily after embroidery.
- A double stitch density instead of the standard setting is essential for completely covering and encasing PUFFY during stitching. u Use satin stitches, not fill stitches. The wider the satin stitch, the stronger the 3D effect will be achieved! Step stitches will destroy the foam.
- A needle with SES point will perforate PUFFY
better than needles with sharp points.
Tip: A standard 75 needle usually produces good results. If the foam is visible despite correct digitization, select a 60 needle with SES tip or remove the foam particles with a hot air blower. - An extremely strong 3D effect can be achieved by using two layers of PUFFY on the base fabric. If needed, bond it with an adhesive spray.
